EICH,EKKAMAI 10 Inspired by a young chef’s love for baking, cooking, and music, this project transforms an old two-story home on the corner of Ekkamai Soi 10 into a new Bakery House, complete with food, coffee, and a hidden bar inside. We chose to keep the original old house structure on the right side while demolishing the central extension. Retained the original column layout and reinforced the structure to create double-volume ceiling, then we design tall U-shaped wall into the space for framing the new building as the main entrance. For the spatial organization, PSD team planned the first floor as the bakery and coffee station, then the second floor for the restaurant and bar. We chose special material “Takian Thong (Ironwood)” cladding entire column and beam structures to retaining the cozy vibe of the old house. Every sharp edge on the building facade was rounded to soften the volume, then we topped building with a simple shed roof maintains simple horizontal lines while expos timber structure underneath that inspired by the Ghibli House. This sparked our core design idea, "HOMIE FANTASY," which aims to hide a sense of wonder within the space. Seeing through the building's exterior, horizontal beam of LED light will glides from the bakery room, rhythmically ascending until it reaches a seamless finish at the roof structure above.
