Bottomless, Central World

Inspired by the name of the café, the concept of espresso extraction using a bottomless portafilter is presented in a straightforward yet striking manner—reimagined as both a decorative column feature and lighting fixture illuminating the coffee bar of this compact kiosk, located on the 7th floor of Central World.

The central column is finished with porcelain tiles arranged to radiate outward from the café’s logo, which is thoughtfully placed at the corner of the column to align with the main pedestrian flow—creating visual depth and guiding attention toward the brand. This tiled pattern is echoed in the surrounding bar area we called “The explosion of Bottomless” reinforcing continuity throughout the design.

The portafilter-inspired lighting fixture references the design language of Bottomless’ first branch. Made from hand-sized metal tubing wrapped in electrical cord, the piece subtly incorporates a hidden lightbox logo at the end of the portafilter handle—strategically aligned with the cashier station below to mark a key moment in the customer experience. The layout of the store is divided 70:30 between the coffee bar and seating area, with two types of seating zones: a high bar for quick visits and a standard-height seating zone designed for customers who want to sit down, work, or have conversations.
